The trend toward increasing the efficiency of rail transport services leads to increased demands on transmission type and transmission performance of the electrical coupling.

Our solutions, which are designed and manufactured to meet your specific needs, are electrical couplings for reliable and EMC-compatible transmission of power, control, and bus signals as well as for data transmission.

In close cooperation with Voith Turbo Scharfenberg, era-contact offers project-specific automatic couplings and manually separable semi-permanent couplings for high-speed and regional trains (DMU and EMU), light rail and trams, and metros for all established coupling models (systems “Scharfenberg”, “Tomlinson”, “AAR”, “Wedgelock”).

As an option, couplings can be equipped with electrical or pneumatic drives. We support our customers in choosing and laying out the contacts.

For the electrical connection of rail vehicles with screw-type couplings and buffers, era-contact offers heavy-duty hand couplings.

With all types of coupling (automatic couplings, semi-permanent and hand connectors/couplings), the same housing may contain contacts for signal and power transmission as well as for communication, data, and bus signals.

The assembly of jumper cables for connections between electrical vehicles is performed economically in our cable assembly division.
