Certification to IRIS
IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard)
As one of our customers you expect the maximum of quality and reliability from our products and services. For this reason, we have developed an internal quality management system over the last ten years which satisfies the high requirements of the railway industry. Since the year 2000, we have geared ourselves to the highest standards set by quality directives, and in doing so comply with systems from outside the industry, including the automotive industry standard ISO TS16949 and DIN ISO 9001.
In addition to these high standards set by quality management systems outside our sector of industry, era-contact GmbH has also achieved certification to the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) as is customary within this industry. This certificate verifies our good work continuously improving our quality management system during the past few years and confirms to you, our customers, that in choosing era-contact GmbH, you have found the right partner for your products.
IRIS certification is a standard for certification of quality management systems in the railway industry. Its requirements were set out by representatives of the European railway industry which recently merged to become UNIFE.
IRIS provides confirmation that top standards are reached in quality management and represents an internationally uniform quality standard in the railway industry. Standard couplings achieve market penetration
As a result of the introduction of era1, era2, era3 and era4 as a standard couplings, were that 75% of all new orders a standard coupling included.
Thus, our standard couplings are serving now all market segments worldwide - from high-speed trains on local- and long-distance trains, commuter- and lightrail division up to underground vehicles.
Our standard couplings are available in one- or two-piece designs, lower- / upper- sideways mounted.

IP69k standard couplings
IP69k standard couplings - even for steam cleaning applications!
The base is the patented, parallel guided front cover, that is used in the projects Sydney GT4, EMU EMB Dubai and Iran.
In consequence of continuous improvements of the sealing we have reached that even steam cleaning does not affected the tightness of the sealing.
By the exhibition InnoTrans 2008 we have presented the IP69 version of a standard coupling and it received a great interest.

The “easy to install” connection bolt
By the invention of the patented clip-pin connector makes it possible to crimp the lines directly, or connect them about “fast-on” plug connectors.
The highlight of the connector pins is the simple mounting in the contact holder.
The previous connection bolts were mounted thru ring or bended inwards. For this were expensive and cumbersome hand tools required.
Through the new clip-pin connector can be reached a significant reduction in the assembly of parts, because a simple plug mounting will be enable without additional tools.

Contact systems K08 - 40% more signals in the existing installation space
The smallest contacts for automatic couplers are now available at the railway market.
Thanks to their robust design, our products are established in the railway market and they have a durability of 100,000 operating cycles like the previous standard-contact systems.
Our new contact systems K08 enable us to fit up to 40% more contacts into the available installation space, thus transmitting 40% more individual signals as previous standard contacts.

and retrofitting of their existing electric couplings
The K08 contact systems exist in two versions, mobile/fixed and male/female each in gold or in silver.
The K08 verify the technological leadership of era-contact because the K08 have a transition resistance of < 1 mOhm, just like their predecessors K10 contacts.

Fast Ethernet and Gigabit system contact - all the rail tests are passed
With the development of the patented era-transceiver, we have as the single supplier of automatic electric couplings for vehicles a solution, that allows a process reliably data transfer with data rates up to Gigabit, galvanically isolated, between the vehicles.
The concept is released now for Fast Ethernet signalling.
By extensive tests in accordance with DIN EN 50155, a field test with metro railways over period of nine months, no error was detected.
The contact system K50-era-transceiver is available with a SC connector for fibre-optic cables, RJ45 and M12 connectors for CAT 5e cables.
