UIC 552 Connectors

When passenger train cars are supplied with electrical power through the train busbar, the electrical connection between the traction unit and car, or between individual cars linked together, is established with UIC 552 type connectors. These are designed for a rated current of 800 A at -10°C at a rated voltage of AC/DC 3 kV.



Each car or traction unit end is equipped with a cable holder splitter box, plug lead, receptacle, and dummy. To avoid cable breaks or further damage, the coupling receptacle can be equipped with a so-called safety catch.

UIC 541 Connector

Features:

  • Connector for transmission of power and signals
  • Application: Connector within a train for the electro-pneumatic emergency brake; also for electro-pneumatic braking
  • UIC 541-5VE
  • Impact-resistant hand grip made of metal
  • Main contacts 110 V / 50 A
  • 10,000 mating cycles
