Mobile/Fixed Contact Systems

Mobile/fixed contact systems are used to transfer control and power current.

They represent a large portion of the contact systems used in electrical couplings for rail vehicles. They are suitable for transmitting electrical signals and for transmitting power up to a rated amperage of 400 A. Mobile/fixed contact systems are designed for 100,000 mating cycles and are offered with gold and silver surfaces. More information may be found in the product data sheets (please see the links to these below).

Mobile/fixed contact systems may be mounted in sliding, pivoted, and also in stationary electrical couplings.

In our patented mobile/fixed contact system, the electrical contact is created with the spring contact head. This assures sufficient pressing force exerted on the fixed contact over the entire active area of the pressed contact, which permits axial play in the entire system. The inner contact pin, in connection with the contact lamella, ensures a constant pressing force. This is how the era-contact connector reaches the best conducting characteristics, resulting in a long-term low-ohm connection. In addition to this inner construction, there are strand (braided) contacts which may be applied for individual applications at high temperatures. A further construction type is represented by the integrated retaining elements in the pressure contact head. They conduct the electrical power over the sleeve to the contact pins.

Maximum rated current up to 400 A.

Signal transmission up to 10 MBit/s possible, depending on the design.
